Interested in a bike? We have semester long rentals as well as multi-day rentals. Semester rentals for the spring will be available on March 25, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon or until we run out. Semester rentals are provided on a first come first served basis and due back at the end of the semester. Multi-day rentals will be available starting April 2nd and can be rented during open hours. Multi-day rentals can be rented for maximum of 7 days with the potential to renew based on demand. Each bike will come with a helmet and lock. Use of locks is required and helmet usage is highly recommended for your personal safety.
Bikes, locks, and helmets must be returned on the due date at the Bison Bike Barn or you will be charged late fees. Late returns of bikes, helmets, and locks at one time will incur a flat fee of $10 a day until the cost of the gear is reached. Bikes, helmets, and locks returned at different time will result in itemized fees of $10 for bike, $2 for helmet, $2 for lock, and $1 for lock key per day until the cost of the gear is reached. Failure to pay late fees will result in a hold being placed on your account.
AA rented Bison Bike, lock, and helmet is the responsibility of the user, in adherence with the Bison Bike waiver. Please refer to this document prior to bike rental. Bikes must be locked appropriately (see article https://lifehacker.com/5942301/the-proper-way-to-lock-your-bicycle). If you do not lock the bike responsibly and do not use our U-Locks and the bike is stolen, you will be held responsible for the bike theft. Bison Bikes staff will assist renters with standard wear and tear (flat tires, chain pops off, brake issues, etc.) at no cost to the user during open hours. If damage occurs to bikes beyond standard wear and tear (running it into a curb, attempting to ride down stairs, etc.) will result in repair fees.
We offer bike mechanic workshops to teach you how to fix your own bike. Please watch the message board for clinics or ask the shop when these events will occur.
If you are having issues with your own personal bike, we will work with you to teach you how to assess mechanic concerns, provide the tools, and mechanics to help you fix your own bike. You will need to buy the parts at a local bike shop, but we can help you fix your own bike.
We also partner with the Outing Club to offer biking trips in the area. Please sign up at the CAP center for an experience.
We also provide priority rentals to Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs). Please email email@example.com for more details.
Lastly, we do have a partnership with the Bucknell Cycling team to provide a few road bikes to participants of the cycling team. Please work with the cycling team to learn more! Get Outside!
