Project Catalyst: How to Engineer Engineering Workshop

  The workshop will be held July 9–11 on Bucknell's campus in Lewisburg, Pa.

• Registration Cost

  Registration: $600 for payments through May 15
  Late Registration: $900 for payments May 16–June 30

  Registration includes lunch one day and refreshments throughout the workshop.

   

• Workshop Format

  You will receive personalized mentorship as you reimagine at least one course. The workshop will be split into three smaller cohorts according to pre-survey results about teaching approaches. Throughout the workshop, you will work with mentors to establish the following for your course:

  • Course outcomes
  • Course culture
  • Assignments and classroom activities
  • Assessments
  • Your work/life balance, self care and improvement

  To facilitate this work, we will ask you to complete a little pre-work, including a survey, so we can make content that best matches your needs.

   

• Sample Daily Schedule

  This workshop takes place during business hours, beginning at 1 p.m. on day one and ending at 1 p.m. on day three.

  • Day 1, 1–5 p.m.: Introduction to active learning for busy skeptics (with Mike Prince)
  • Day 2, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.: Work with mentors to revise your course in a like-minded group; lunch provided
  • Day 3, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.: Prepare to share your revised course and participate in a poster presentation reception with peer and mentor feedback

   

• Local Accommodations

  We have partnered with the Fairfield Inn & Suites (70 Hardwood Drive, Lewisburg, Pa., 17837), which is only one mile from campus, to hold a block of rooms for workshop participants. Please book your room by June 8.

  The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau can provide additional lodging options.
