Twenty-five years ago, one man chose to give local students the gift of a lifetime. Like a stone thrown in still waters, the Walker Family Scholarship has rippled, helping dozens of Clearfield County graduates achieve their dream of earning a Bucknell education.
Funding provided by Ray Walker P'66, GP'84, GP'97, GP'00, and his late wife, Louise, has helped these Bucknellians earn degrees in everything from accounting and electrical engineering to management and music performance. With the continued generosity of trustee Alan Walker '66, P'97, P'00 and his wife, Judy, the Walker Family Scholarship has made a dramatic impact on Bucknell students. They've gone on to earn graduate degrees from institutions that include Yale, Penn, the University of Virginia and the University of Heidelberg.
Today they are physicians, engineers, teachers, business executives and more. Many have returned to the Clearfield area. And more than half follow Walker's example of helping others: They support the University so that other talented applicants might have the same opportunity they did.
Listed are the names, graduation years and majors of many of the recipients of the Walker Family Scholarship. Behind each name is a life story shaped by one man's decision to make a difference and another story of the lasting effect endowed scholarships have on lives across the world of Bucknell.
