A pride traceable to her paternal grandmother, Hannah R. Bloom, Bucknell Institute, Class of 1861, motivated Dorothy Lemon Bailey to retain a strong bond with the small college along the banks of the Susquehanna River. Residing near Pittsburgh, she was instrumental in the affairs of the Western Pennsylvania Association of Bucknell Women, serving as secretary and president. Her deep devotion and loyalty to Bucknell is evidenced by her ten-year term on the board of directors of the General Alumni Association, including two years as president. A combination of deepest affection for Bucknell and a strong attachment to athletics moved her to continual support of the Bison Club. She has served on the Bucknell Development Council, been an assistant class fund manager, charter member of the William Bucknell Associates, and class reporter. A member of Kappa Delta sorority as an undergraduate, she has been vice president and president of her class. Her husband and her two sons are all Bucknellians.
