The New Student Orientation program is an extensive five-day program that focuses on scholarship, tradition and community. Through meetings with academic advisers, participation in traditional ceremonies and events, and community building activities, you will learn the values of scholarship and community living and have the opportunity to connect with hundreds of your classmates. Orientation for the Class of 2021 will be held Aug. 16-20.
International students also attend a five-day International Student Orientation. This program gives new international students an opportunity to settle in, explore campus and form a supportive community prior to New Student Orientation. Attendance is mandatory for any international student on a U.S. visa. Each year about 70 students attend this program. International students should plan to arrive on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Students are invited to attend one or more of our pre-orientation opportunities, programs designed to help acclimate students and introduce them to fellow classmates, upperclass students and University administrators before orientation begins.
The exciting five-day schedule focuses on academic and social expectations, learning University traditions and providing opportunities for students to meet their new classmates.
Look for a detailed schedule in July 2018.
Orientation Leaders and Coordinators plan all year for the arrival of the incoming class. In August, a team of 100 Orientation Assistants (OAs) will join them in introducing our newest Bucknellians to each other and assisting their transition to the scholarship, community and traditions of Bucknell.
