Bucknell Educational Goals Compared to Employer Priorities

Bucknell seniors participating in the 2014 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) said that their college experience substantially contributed to acquiring skills and knowledge. Compared to the 2015 Hart survey of employers, the results indicated that Bucknell’s education meets or exceeds employer needs.

High-Impact Practices (HIPs)

The figures below are from the NSSE and compare the percentage of students who participated in High-Impact Practices with those at institutions in our peer group. Both figures include participation in a learning community, service-learning and research with faculty. The Senior figure also includes participation in an internship or field experience, study abroad and culminating senior experience.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) was completed by 458 first-year and 469 senior students in 2014 at Bucknell.

Positive Impact on Learning

Data are based on seniors who answered "Quite a bit" and "Very much" to the following question: To what extent did your experience as an undergraduate contribute to your knowledge, skills, and personal development in the following areas?"

Alumni respondents to the 2014 Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS) Alumni survey indicated that Bucknell played a crucial part in developing the following knowledge and skills:
