Bucknell University's College of Engineering will host the 11th annual Engineering & Science Education Expo, or "Gizmo Expo," on Monday, Dec. 5, from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. in Larison Hall.
This event brings groups of local scouts, students, teachers and families to campus to learn about engineering and science in an interactive way. Fifty teams of Bucknell engineering students will demonstrate educational devices designed and built to teach engineering and science concepts — such as motion, force, electricity and magnetism — and share inquiry-based teaching units constructed around the devices. Adults and children attending the expo will be able to try out the educational devices, learn science and engineering concepts, and potentially take home a device to use at a scout meeting, class or other educational opportunity.
The expo is appropriate for teachers, homeschoolers, scouting and other similar volunteers, and supervised children. Scout troops are asked to register in advance with Associate Dean Margot Vigeant via e-mail at email@example.com.
