The Bucknell University College of Engineering will hold its annual Bucknell Engineering Design Expo on Friday, April 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. in Larison Hall (view campus map). This event is free and open to the public.
Each year, graduating engineers take part in a senior design experience, resulting in a plan, device, innovation or design — a master work demonstrating that the student is ready to enter the engineering profession, apply what they've learned and design artifacts and processes for the benefit of humanity. A sample of this year's projects includes:
A device that helps medical responders perform ultrasounds more quickly in emergency situations
An interactive rocket-launch simulator for a local children's museum
A film search engine database
A jet-engine cleaning formulation for commercial and military aircraft
A "smart" Frisbee that communicates with a smartphone app
This year, some of the sponsors and clients with whom the students worked include Corning Incorporated, Avery Dennison, Procter & Gamble, Geisinger Health System, GE Healthcare, Primus Technologies and GlobalFoundries.
On display will be projects completed by students from the departments of biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical & computer engineering and mechanical engineering, as well as interdisciplinary teams.
Please note that because of intellectual property rights, photography of a select number of projects is forbidden. These projects will be marked accordingly. For simplicity, all attendees will be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement when entering the Design Expo.
For a complete listing of projects, or for for more information on the event, please contact Ron Ziemian, associate dean of engineering, at email@example.com or 570-577-1784, or Steph McKinney at firstname.lastname@example.org or 570-577-3705.
