Nina Banks, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Economics
After traveling to Nicaragua with the Bucknell Brigade annually and also doing other service-learning courses, the cofaculty were struck with how wonderful the learning process is when a community of students and faculty/staff travel, work together on projects, and consider issues that are no longer abstract, but are vividly present in what
we see each day. This wonderful learning inspired the founding of the Bucknell in Nicaragua three week summer program in 2005.
Professor Susman's background in third world development, economic geography, and health geography combines nicely with Professor Bank's interests in development economics, social reproduction, and labor issues.
