LEWISBURG, Pa — Jessica Quintana Hess has been named director of the Office of Multicultural Student Services at Bucknell University, effective immediately.
As director, Hess will work to address the needs of all multicultural students; provide guidance and support to multicultural students and student groups; implement educational, cultural and development programs focusing on diversity and multiculturalism; and serve as a strong voice for minority students’ concerns within the University.
Hess, who graduated from Bucknell in 1999 with a bachelor of arts degree in history, also received a master of science degree in education in 2000. She served as an assistant director of multicultural recruitment at American University and as admissions officer at Johns Hopkins before returning to Bucknell last year as associate director of admissions.
Most recently she helped develop and maintain the Bucknell admissions program’s e-communications and website and assisted in the development of a national Hispanic student recruitment strategy.
As a student at Bucknell, Hess was active with several student organizations including Le Cumbre Hispanic and Brothers and Sisters Empowered. She served as a Student of Color intern in the Office of Admissions, graduate assistant in the Office of the Provost, and captain and graduate assistant of the varsity track and field program.
“We are delighted Jessica is willing to shift from Admissions to this crucial position,” said Bucknell Provost Mary A. DeCredico. “Jessica brings a wealth of experience that will assist us as we push forward The Plan for Bucknell.”
