LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University senior Michelle Gezo has been honored with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Award by the Susquehanna Valley branch of the association.
The AAUW Senior Woman Award is given to the woman who exhibits leadership skills, educational excellence and community participation. As the recipient, Gezo was granted a one-year-at-large membership in AAUW, the largest and oldest national organization working for the advancement of women.
Gezo will graduate from Bucknell May 23 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration (management). The daughter of Evelyn and Thomas Gezo Sr., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, she is a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
A dean's list student and member of Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, she recently was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest honorary scholarship society.
She also has received the President's Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement and recently was honored with the Bison Award of Excellence, given for significant contributions to co-curricular and community activities.
Gezo, who participated in a Habitat for Humanity trip to Kentucky during her sophomore year, more recently was instrumental in helping to raise $20,000 for the Bucknell Habitat house in Mifflinburg, Pa.
