LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell-Penn Alumni Bike Race for Scholarship Documentary will be shown on Friday, Aug. 1, at 2:45 p.m. in the Elaine Langone Center Forum at Bucknell University.
The documentary includes footage of five Bucknellians who cycled from California to New Jersey along with University of Pennsylvania riders in early fall 2007 to raise money for each school’s scholarships. The Bucknell team raised more than $1 million.
The hour-long documentary features Walt McConnell ’53, Frank Arentowicz ’69, Kyle Rosendale ’07, Pat O’Malley ’07 and Jay Kosa ’07.
The three generations of cyclists raced coast to coast – from Santa Monica, Calif., to Atlantic City, N.J. – over 19 days in September 2007, covering more than 3,050 miles during the journey.
To complete the last leg of their cross-country trek, the team entered Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at Homecoming 2007 at the football game’s halftime to a standing ovation.
