Scholarly community, broad opportunities
Do you have ideas that could change the world? Improve a neighborhood? Spark a research project?
Bucknell is a community of thinkers, scholars, scientists, musicians, athletes, activists and artists who believe that personal growth and development occur both in the classroom and beyond it.
Passionate Students
Students come to Bucknell from a variety of public and private secondary schools across the country and around the globe. They have strong academic records and test scores and a drive to reach beyond their studies to get involved in both their school and the world around them.
If you choose to come to Bucknell, you’ll be able to pursue your passions, uncover new interests, make lifelong friends and share the best of yourself with others.
Along the way, your professors and fellow students will guide, inspire and support you.
Liberal arts in a university setting
Bucknell is ranked among the top liberal arts institutions in the nation. We combine the best characteristics of a traditional liberal arts college – a range of interesting courses, personal attention and a close-knit community – with the resources and facilities of a larger university.
Brilliant faculty
Bucknell's professors value teaching above all else. Whether they study ritual in West Africa, the structural reliability of bridges or the politics of conservation, our faculty members invite students along for the journey of exploration and understanding. They are the leaders and the guardians of the academic experience at Bucknell. Browse our Experts' Guide to see the range of faculty interests and accomplishments.
Exciting Courses and Learning Opportunities
Our 3,400 undergraduates enjoy a broad curriculum that includes professional programs in accounting, management, education, engineering and music, as well as pre-professional advising in law and medicine.
Students can choose from more than 50 majors and 60 minors in the humanities, social sciences, sciences and mathematics, and engineering — or design their own interdepartmental or college major built around their academic interests and goals.
Bucknell also offers an array of experiential learning and study abroad opportunities ranging from the Student Managed Investment Fund, a yearlong class in which students take charge of real-money investments; to the Bucknell Brigade, a biannual service trip to Nicaragua.
