Historic community, worldwide reach
Bucknell offers the best of both worlds: the safety and community of a small college town, along with access to the culture and stimulation of some of the country’s most dynamic metropolitan areas.
The town of Lewisburg offers restaurants, shops and entertainment options within walking distance of the Bucknell campus; other conveniences, such as malls, are just a short drive away.
Students looking to broaden their exploration can take advantage of opportunities in New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, all of which are within a three- to four-hour drive from Lewisburg.
About Lewisburg
Located in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania, historic Lewisburg (population 5,600) is often cited as one of the top small towns in the U.S. The borough of Lewisburg, one of the best-preserved Victorian-era districts in the country, appears on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
The town’s business district features a variety of small shops and boutiques, cafes, restaurants and galleries. Centrally located on Market Street, the Campus Theatre is one of the nation’s last authentic Art Deco movie houses still in operation. Opened in 1941, the theatre continues to show quality first-run, independent, art and foreign films. For more information about Lewisburg and the surrounding area, visit the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau or take a virtual tour of campus and follow the arrows to downtown Lewisburg.
