LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell University’s Bison Abroad has announced the winners of fall 2008 Study Abroad Photo Contest.

The contest, which was open to all Bucknellians who have studied abroad or are currently studying abroad,  sought entries in three categories – landscape, cultural depiction and miscellaneous, according to Chris Simco, Class of ’09, president of Bison Abroad and one of the contest’s judges.

The winner of the cultural depiction category was Chris Golding, Class of ’09. See photo. His photo was taken one morning at the open air market in Campo De Fiori, Rome.

Lisa Ruggiero, Class of ’10, won in the landscape category. See photo. More information was not available.

Ryan McManus, Class of ’10, took first place in the miscellaneous category. See photo. McManus, who is currently living with a host family in Granada, Spain, as part Bucknell en Espana, took the picture of the family’s cat from the sixth floor window.

Display in Langone Center
The photo contest, said Simco, has been going on for several years and winning photography is framed and typically put on display in glass cases in the high-traffic Elaine Langone Center.

Bison Abroad prepares students for international study, helps reintegrate returning students to the campus community and co-sponsors multicultural events. More than 40 percent of Bucknell’s students study off campus at some point in their academic careers.
