125 years of Co-Education at Bucknell

Bucknell was the 14th institution of higher education in the U.S. to become co-educational.

The University will be holding a special symposium and celebration commemorating the 125th anniversary of co-education at Bucknell during Homecoming weekend (October 23-25, 2009). Filled with panel discussions, historical tours, multimedia presentations, and a celebration luncheon, this is a unique opportunity to meet with a multigenerational group of alumni, friends, family, faculty and staff as we recognize this important milestone in the University’s history.

Please help us reach our $150,000 goal to fund the commemoration of this historic milestone by making a gift of any size by December 31, 2009 and designating it to 125 Years of Co-Education. Your support will help to underwrite costs of the symposium, with the remainder providing essential financial aid for current students.

During the celebration, the University will dedicate the commemorative courtyard in the center of the Academic Quad, between Vaughan Literature Building and Coleman Hall.

Special Recognition Opportunities:

  • Donors of $20,000 or more will receive a named bench (limit of eight) on the commemorative courtyard.
  • Donors of $10,000 or more will be listed on a special recognition plaque.
  • Donors of $5,000 or more will be listed as “Symposium Sponsors” in event programs and marketing.
