Q: Who can use the Bucknell Alumni Directory?

A: Bucknell University alumni, students, faculty and staff have access to the directory. Information is secure and protected, and only the Bucknell community may access it.

Q: How do I get the Bucknell Alumni App on my mobile device?

A: Search for "Bucknell Alumni" in the Apple App Store or in the Google Play Store. Once you have downloaded the app and opened it, you will be prompted to login.

Go to https://community.evertrue.com/bucknell to access the web-based app.

Q: Which devices support the mobile app?

A: The Bucknell Alumni App is currently available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. We support iOS 8 and above, and Android 4.1.x and above.

Q: Is logging in easy?

A: Yes! When you open the directory for the first time, you will be given the option to login using your email address or your LinkedIn account.

If you choose to login using your email address, you will be prompted to enter your first and last name and an email address. If the email address matches what we have on file, you'll receive an authentication message in your email inbox. Click the "Verify" link in the email you receive (this must be done on your mobile device if you are logging into the mobile app) and it will grant you access to the directory.

If you choose to login using your LinkedIn account, simply enter the email address and password you have created for your account. 

Q: What does it mean when my information is under review?

A: If the email address that you provide, using either the email or LinkedIn authentication option, does not match the information we have on file, you will be prompted to provide us with further information. You will be asked for your name, class year and other information that will enable us to verify your identity. You will then receive a notification allowing you access to the directory. This process may take 1-2 business days to complete.

Q: How do I customize my privacy settings?

A: We respect your privacy. If you choose to modify visibility of your personal information, please fill out the Bucknell Alumni App Opt-Out Form to make the request. Alumni who have previously elected not to be listed in the directory need not make a new request. Please contact the Bucknell Alumni Office at alumni@bucknell.edu or 570.577.3223 with questions.

Q: How do I search for people using the Directory?

A (Web): Type the name of the person you are seeking in the search box at the top of the screen. If you are unsure of the spelling, you may type a few letters of the name, and a list of possible matches will appear in a drop-down list.

A (Mobile): Select "Directory" from the main menu and click on the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner. Type the name of the person you are seeking in the "name" field. If you are unsure of the spelling, you may type a few letters in the name, click "done," then "apply" and the app will generate a list of possible matches.

The filters allow you to search by class year, company, school name, industry, Greek affiliation and varsity sports. As a result of enhanced integration with LinkedIn, you can also filter your results using LinkedIn company, LinkedIn industry and LinkedIn location.

Q: How do I search for people nearby?

A: On both web and mobile, when you open the directory, a map will appear with pushpins indicating people in your area. Clicking on one of the pushpins will open that individual's listing in the directory.

Q: How do I search for people living in another city or country? How can I narrow down these results?

A (Web): To search for a specific location within the map feature, enter a city or zip code in the search box at the top right of the map screen. The filters give you the option to filter the results by a number of categories, including LinkedIn location, which generates results based on the location that an individual provides in their LinkedIn profile.

You may click "List" to view the results in the form of a list. 

A (Mobile): To search within the map feature, enter a city or zip code in the search box at the top, or click "filter" in the top right corner of the map for more options. Within the filters you have the option to filter the results by a number of categories, including LinkedIn location, which generates results based on the location that an individual provides in their LinkedIn profile.

You may click "List" in the bottom right corner of the map to view the results in the form of a list.

Q: How do I connect using my LinkedIn account?

A: The app allows you to connect and network with other people using LinkedIn. When you first login to the app, you will be asked if you would like to authenticate using your LinkedIn account or your email address. If you choose to authenticate with your LinkedIn account, your LinkedIn and directory profiles will automatically be connected.

If you authenticate with your email address, you are able to connect to LinkedIn in the web-based app by clicking on your profile at the top right corner of the screen. Once the drop-down list appears, click manage settings, then social networks. In the mobile app, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen to connect to LinkedIn.

Once you have connected with LinkedIn, you can view information that Bucknellians have included in their LinkedIn profile, along with the number of connections you have in common. Anything marked as private in LinkedIn remains private. If you are not connected to that individual, you will not see his/her private LinkedIn information, nor will he/she be able to view yours. Don't forget to list "Bucknell University" in the education field in your LinkedIn profile, and be sure to join the Bucknell Alumni LinkedIn Group!

You may disconnect your LinkedIn account at any time, although if you originally logged in using your LinkedIn account, you will need to re-authenticate using your email address.

Q: How do I update my contact information?

A (Web): Select your profile at the top right corner of the page. Click "Suggest Updates to Profile" at the top of your profile. Click on the appropriate field, enter your updated information and click "Send updates." Bucknell will update the directory and contact you with any questions.

A (Mobile): From the home menu screen, select your name at the top of the page. Click "Update this Profile" at the bottom of your profile. In the open text field, type any updates you would like to make and click "Send." Bucknell will update the directory and contact you with any questions.

You can also click "Suggest Updates to Profile" in another Bucknellian's profile to provide us with new information about that person. We appreciate these leads and will contact that individual inquiring about the update.

Q: Can I email or call another Bucknellian directly from the directory?

A: Yes. Click on the email or phone number in someone's profile to email or call. Phone calls may only be made from devices with phone capability.
