About Joseph Meiser
Joe Meiser is a studio artist who specializes in sculpture. Prior to teaching at Bucknell, Meiser taught introductory sculpture and drawing classes at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. At Bucknell, he teaches sculpture, digital sculpture, and introductory drawing.
Meiser's creative practice examines conflicting narratives about mortality that come from science, philosophy, and religion, as well as great thinkers' suggestions on how to lead a good life. He utilizes a range of traditional and digital sculptural media to create his projects. Meiser has exhibited his artwork in numerous venues across the United States, including: Museo de las Artes in Guadalajara, Texas Tech University in Lubbock, K-Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, the Tarble Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University, and the Torrance Art Museum in Los Angeles. Meiser has delivered presentations on art pedagogy at the Southeastern College Art Conference, and has lectured about his artwork at universities across the country.
