Ron Bixler has taught saxophone at Bucknell since 1999. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mansfield University and a Masters of Music Performance degree from Ithaca College where he served as a teaching assistant. He was a 5-12 public school band director for 7 years. He is active as an instrumental and vocal soloist in church, community, public school, collegiate, and civic performing groups. He performs frequent concerts with the Penn Central Wind Band and the Selinsgrove Adult Band.
- Studied with saxophonists: Steven Mauk, Joseph Murphy, Daniel Neville, Galen Leitzel, and Donald Griffith; took lessons with Frederick Hemke, Ivan Roth, James Umble, Ron Caravan, and John Sampen.
- Performed with Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Harold Danko, and Toni Tenile.
- Active saxophone clinician.
