The Bucknell Voice Lab program offers a variety of training in all performance genres — from musical theatre to opera, from jazz to singer-songwriters. The Bucknell Voice Lab provides a wide range of opportunities for students.
Voice students now and in the future must be vocal chameleons in this ever-changing market. The Bucknell Voice Lab strives to create not only resilient musicians but resilient and flexible individuals.
Performance Opportunities
Undergraduate students present one fully staged and costumed opera/musical with orchestra each year in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts.
Other performance opportunities each year include:
- student-directed opera scenes programs
- jazz cabarets
- soloist opportunities with full orchestra
- opera education
Entrepreneurship and community engagement are woven into the program as well to increase versatility and marketability.
Successful Outcomes
Our students have been selected as finalists in the National Opera Association Collegiate Scenes Competition, as Young Artists for programs such as Opera Steamboat and Taos Opera Institute, and have attended Masters Programs in Voice Performance at Peabody Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, and Westminster Choir College, among others.
