Labs & Learning Spaces
Theatre & Dance
Students in Bucknell's Department of Theatre & Dance have access to one of the most technologically advanced college performing arts venues in the United States, Harvey M. Powers Theatre, complimented by a host of other spaces for performance, rehearsal, set construction and costume design — all of which are used by undergraduate students.
The best part is that at Bucknell, it's not only theatre majors who can access these spaces. Students from all majors can perform in our shows or help out behind the scenes.
Harvey M. Powers Theatre, Coleman Hall
Located in Coleman Hall, this 483-seat theatre hosts both plays and dance performances. It features seating on two levels, a stage with a 32-foot proscenium, Wagnerian orchestra pit, an extensive catwalk system and advanced lighting and audio controls. Both the stage and the house have been designed for maximum acoustical quality with curved oak walls and sound diffraction drums on the balcony.
Adjacent to the theatre is an 1800-square-foot scene shop; computer stations for CAD, digital sound work and lighting design; large format, photo-quality color printers; flatbed scanner; data projector; paint shop and other set design resources, all of which are available for student use.
