Loyalty To Bucknell Award

The Loyalty To Bucknell Award is presented annually to a member of the alumni community whose service, dedication and commitment to alma mater are extraordinary.

2025 Recipient

William B. Morrow '70

William (Bill) Morrow '70, a 36-year resident of London, considers Bucknell a portal to the United States. As a son of a Navy Captain, he moved every few years growing up, and after leaving university, he continued to move for graduate school and work. With few constants, Bucknell has provided a lifelong anchor of friends, memories, familiarity, common interests and experiences.

Following his Bucknell graduation, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English, Morrow obtained a master's degree in education at George Washington University before serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras. He returned to the U.S., where he was a staff member in the Peace Corps, and went on to earn an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Fifteen years of corporate banking with Bank of America finished in London, where he moved into development finance and then private equity investing in Central Europe, where he continues to provide advisory services.

Through classmate Scott Nichols '70, P'03, Morrow was introduced to and elected by the Bucknell Board of Trustees, where he served for ten years. He returned to campus more than 25 times, making new friends with trustees, alumni, staff and professors. As an Emeritus Trustee, he continues his involvement with the University.

Morrow expanded his web of Bucknell contacts through engagement with Bucknell in London, and the Bucknell Farm, and has generously contributed to new academic buildings, scholarships for SHE-CAN students (young women from conflict countries) and a visiting scholars program for the English department. He also provided funding for Songs of the Susquehanna, a book of photography and poetry capturing the essence of the local environment. An article in Bucknell Magazine about Muyambi Muyambi '12 and Molly Burke '10, co-founders of Bicycles Against Poverty (now Cycle Connect), led to a chance meeting and ended with an eight-year stint as chairman of their Uganda charity serving last-mile farmers.
