Duo Multifactor Authentication

In an effort better secure your Bucknell account, the University has made multifactor authentication available to all students through Duo. Multifactor authentication strengthens account security by requiring two methods to verify your identity. These factors include something you know (your Bucknell password) plus something you have (such as a smartphone app to approve authentication requests). Duo protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.

Enrollment is mandatory, and you may enroll at any time. Once you enroll in Duo your Bucknell password will not expire.

How It Works

You log in with your Bucknell username and password as you have always done. Then an app on your smartphone prompts you make sure the person trying to log into your Bucknell account is actually you. If you say "yes" to the app, you are logged in. If you say "no" or don't answer at all, access to your account is not granted.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?
