22 Bucknell Faculty Earn Tenure or Advance to Full Professor
April 27, 2020
An astronomer who measured winds on an object outside the solar system for the first time, an engineer developing networked vehicle technology to make roadways safer, a management expert who observes how governments and nonprofits work together in times of sudden crisis, a political scientist who surveys the American public on the most pressing hot-button issues — these are just some of the 22 Bucknell professors who earned tenure or were promoted to full professor this spring.
Bucknell's Board of Trustees officially confirmed the appointments during its remote spring meeting April 22–24, following an extensive review by academic departments, a University review committee and President John Bravman.
Tenure represents a long-term commitment between Bucknell and faculty members, who can expect to continue their careers teaching and researching at the University. The promotions recognize both their commitment to excellence in the teaching and mentorship of undergraduate students and their efforts to advance knowledge and innovation through scholarship and research.
"As we cope with unprecedented challenges this semester, it's more important than ever to recognize how critical the work of these faculty is to our mission of educating the next generation of great minds," says Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak, Bucknell's provost.
