Parents Association

1. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 15, 2025, for the next Board term beginning in April 2025.
2. Parents of students from first-year, sophomore or junior classes may apply by submitting this application form prior to the deadline above. One or both parents are welcome to apply.
3. Applications are reviewed by the membership committee each February. Parents are notified of their application outcome early March.
4. The member's term runs until the youngest child of the member family graduates from Bucknell or a mutually agreed upon timeframe with the University.

• Learn about Bucknell and the Parents Association, its purpose, programs and activities.
• Serve as a member of the parents board for the duration of your student's enrollment at Bucknell or a mutually agreed upon timeframe with the University.
• Attend and engage in two on-campus board meetings per year.
  • Spring meeting over Admitted Students Day each April
  • Fall meeting over Family Weekend each fall
• Make an annual gift to Bucknell in accordance with your capability to give.
• Decide how you would like to make a difference for Bucknell and carry out your work in a signature initiative of your choice.
• Be responsive to the Center for Alumni and Family Engagement (CAFE) at Bucknell for all requests.
• Be an advocate for Bucknell and serve as a resource for families in your geographic area.
• Participate in on-campus and regional Bucknell events as recommended.

• Connect regularly with Admissions to ensure coordination of support
• Grow the number of parents who participate in regional Admissions events
• Participate in parent-to-parent interactions, virtually or in person, to help families who are considering Bucknell
• Serve as Admitted Students Day ambassador (on campus during spring events)

• Support Bucknell's efforts to enable successful employment outcomes for graduates

• Team with Bucknell's Center for Career Advancement (CCA) to promote and communicate CCA's activities and programs, full-time jobs and internships opportunities

• Identify opportunities for the parents board to add value by sharing their career expertise and industry connections through career education and recruiting initiatives

• Focus on action plans that can be sustained over time

• Partner with the Office of Equity & Inclusive Excellence to promote goals and objectives
• Support equity and inclusive excellence across all aspects of the Bucknell experience
• Enhance recruiting efforts to become a more diverse board

• Assist with support of students and families after they have committed to Bucknell
• Strengthen promotion and endorsement of regional outreach such as Bison Gatherings

• Partner with University Advancement to promote annual giving from parents and families to increase financial support to Bucknell.
• Help develop content for communications with parents and families that educate on the impact of parent annual giving for students and Bucknell.
• Encourage and monitor Parents Board annual giving, helping to ensure 100% giving participation from all members.

• Identify opportunities to contribute to positive overall student experience
• Connect with university partners to promote initiatives that encourage student wellness
