There is a world of different cultures at Bucknell, and our Global Connections, Cultures & Community (GC3) Pre-Orientation program gives new international and domestic students an opportunity to settle in, explore campus and form a supportive community before New Student Orientation begins.
The program is sponsored by International Student & Scholar Services and run by enthusiastic student leaders. They'll welcome you to Bucknell and maintain their relationship with you throughout your first year here — and beyond. Specially crafted for students arriving from abroad, this fun, hands-on program serves as a strong launchpad that sets the tone for your future years on campus.
This program has taken the place of Bucknell's International Student Orientation program.
Wednesday, Aug. 14 | All day: Move-in for GC3 participants |
Thursday, Aug. 15 | Record updates and settle in |
Friday, Aug. 16 | All Pre-O programs start |
Tuesday, Aug. 20 | Last day of Pre-O programs |
Wednesday, Aug. 21 | New Student Orientation begins for all first-year Bucknell students |
Note: Dates and times are tentative and subject to change.
Guided by GC3 Ambassadors, you'll build a globally minded community of support at Bucknell as you get to know other students from around the world and discover the diversity of cultures represented on campus.
It's our job to ensure you are settled, comfortable, adjusting to campus, finding new connections and taking care of any arrival-related necessities. While we have many facets of support and resources built into this program, the hallmark of this dynamic program are the 3 C’s: connections, cultures and community. We'll help you build meaningful connections and friendships across cultures and find a sense of community, or home, on campus. In fact, there's actually a fourth C: cheer! You're definitely going to have a lot of fun along the way!
This program is open to anyone who loves exploring other cultures. GC3 is both designed for and required for all new international first-year students who will attend Bucknell on a U.S. visa. Attendance by anyone else is absolutely encouraged.
There is no cost to participate in Bucknell University's GC3.
Email iss@bucknell.edu for information about how to contact group members on social media prior to arrival.
