• Campus Breaks

  If your student will stay on campus over a break, it is very important that they register to stay.

  Otherwise, charges may be incurred for each unregistered day your student is present on campus.

  Bucknell offers student housing in a variety of settings: traditional residence halls, apartment-style facilities, small house communities (which include both special-interest and theme houses), substance-free or quiet housing and off-campus housing.

• Global Connections, Cultures & Community

  International students admitted to Bucknell University are required to participate in a five-day Pre-Orientation program specially designed to welcome them to campus and to meet their specific support needs. We build community, get to know each other and the campus, talk about culture, discuss U.S. academic life, and also take care of necessities like going to the bank and setting up residence rooms. This program is open to all students but is required of any student attending Bucknell on an F-1 or J-1 visa.

  If you plan on traveling with your student to campus in August, please let us know by emailing us at iss@bucknell.edu. We can help answer any questions and make sure you have access to specific orientation events for parents.

• On- and Off-campus Employment

  Bucknell offers a variety of work experiences on campus, and students in F-1 and J-1 status are able to work on campus without special work authorization.

  However, your student cannot work off campus without specific work permission and until certain requirements are met. They should explore their options carefully before accepting a job off campus.
