Medical Emergencies & Transportation
In Case of Serious Illness or Injury
For emergency care when Bucknell Student Health is closed, students should report to the Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Room.
For other medical concerns that cannot wait until Bucknell Student Health is open, please call Public Safety at 570-577-1111 and you will be put in contact with the physician on call.
In Case of Serious Illness or Injury When Student Health is Closed
If you have an emergency:
• Bleeding that will not stop
• Breathing difficulties
• Severe pain
• Seizures
• Collapse or unconsciousness
• Traumatic head or body injury
• Chest pain
• Signs of a stroke (i.e. change in mental state, facial droop, slurred speech or motor difficulties)
You should:
1. Call 911.
2. Report to the nearest emergency room (Evangelical Hospital when on campus).
3. Be connected to the emergency provider on call by calling Public Safety at 570-577-1111.
For non-emergency condition:
When the Student Health is closed, please see Self Care for Common Conditions and plan to schedule an appointment if needed when the health center resumes business hours or utilize the shuttle as outlined below to obtain other care.

Non-emergency Needs During Off Hours
The Bucknell University Downtown Shuttle makes regular stops at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg. Students requiring non-emergency health care when Student Health is closed may use the Downtown Shuttle. Additional options for transportation to medical appointments within 30 miles can also be arranged with approval from Bucknell Student Health and 48 hours advance notice.
