Moving to college is a memorable and important milestone, and Bucknell strives to make it a welcoming, stress-free experience, every step of the way.

To help you prepare for your journey to campus, new student move-in dates and information about what to expect can be found below. If you have questions about the process, please contact orientation@bucknell.edu

New Student Move-in Dates

  • First-year student move-in will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. You may arrive at any time during this window.
  • Students participating in Pre-Orientation will move in Friday, Aug. 15, from 7 to 11 a.m., and will receive move-in instructions from their Pre-Orientation leader.
  • International students will work with the International Student & Scholar Services office on individual move-in plans based on their arrival schedule.

Move-in Procedures

When you arrive in Lewisburg, you should enter campus from either Moore Avenue or Seventh Street, depending on your residence hall:

  • Students residing in McDonnell, Swartz or Vedder Hall should enter campus from the west via the Route 15 and Moore Avenue intersection.
  • Students residing in Smith Hall should enter campus from the north via Seventh Street.

Please drive directly to your residence hall upon arrival. University and Bucknell Public Safety staff will be directing traffic. There will be signage directing you to the different first-year residence halls.

When you arrive at your hall, Orientation assistants will welcome you and will help you unpack your car and carry your belongings to your room. While your vehicle is being unloaded, you will be able to pick up your room key and Bucknell ID. Once your vehicle is unloaded, staff and Orientation assistants will direct you to parking.

Following a lunch and optional activities, Orientation will begin at 1:30 p.m. After a series of afternoon programs for parents and families, all family members and friends are asked to depart campus between 5 and 6 p.m. A welcome reception for first-year families will follow.

Be sure to download the Bucknell App to keep the full schedule of Orientation events and updates at your fingertips. Choose the "New Student Orientation" persona.
