Room Selection
Bucknell's residential living/learning environment is one of its most distinctive features. It is a source of intellectual stimulation, social interaction, friendship and personal support. We're committed to a residential learning environment that requires and guarantees housing for all undergraduate students for all four years.
Housing selection for sophomores, juniors and seniors takes place during the spring semester. Room selection is how Bucknell makes residential room assignments, based on the preferences of our students. You can share your preferences, along with your living style and habits, in the application in myHOME.
Please understand many variables affect roommate and room assignments, and we are unable to meet every preference. Contact housing@bucknell.edu if you have questions about your options.
Room Selection Exceptions
Students who are in any of the following categories will not participate in room selection:
- Incoming first-year students who will undergo housing assignments
- Students approved to live off-campus
- Students who elect to participate in the Affinity Housing or Residential College alumni programs
- Students living in fraternity or sorority spaces
- Students who have committed to study abroad in the Fall 2025 semester
- Students hired as staff members, such as Residential Advisers, Junior Fellows, Peer Advisers, etc.
Housing Accommodations
Students seeking housing accommodation should refer to the Office for Accessibility Resources (OAR). All accommodation documentation for sophomores, juniors and seniors must be submitted through OAR no later than Feb. 28.
Gender Inclusive Housing
Bucknell strives to provide welcoming and safe housing for all students, including options for those seeking gender-inclusive accommodations.
The Office of LGBTQ Resources and Housing Services will work with students who identify as transgender, gender nonconforming or nonbinary to provide options to meet their on-campus housing needs. If you want to learn more about these options, please review our Gender Inclusive Housing Guide.

Time Slots
Time slots for all class years will be released on March 24, 2025. Time slot information will be available on myHOME.
Info Sessions
Below are the dates, times and locations for information sessions about room selection. During these information sessions, students will learn about the process for room selection, review the room selection timeline and see a demonstration of how to go through room selection. There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions at the end of the information session. A recording of the information shared during the information sessions will be made available for students to view at a later time.
- Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in Trout Auditorium
This information session will specifically cater to rising sophomores. - Wednesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in Academic West, room 108
This information session will be for all class years. - Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom (Link provided at a later time)
Waitlist and Upgrade Information Session. - Video recordings will be uploaded to myHome for viewing at a later time.
2025-26 Room Selection Timeline
Specialized Room Selection
- Feb. 28: Deadline to submit housing accommodation requests to the Office of Accessibility Resources.
- Feb. 28: Fraternity and sorority housing assignments finalized. Each chapter's leadership will assign rooms within the chapter's housing area.
- March 4 and 6: Residential College alumni housing selection. This process is organized by the Residential College program.
- March 11: Students granted housing accommodations receive room assignments.
- March 20: Students approved for Affinity Housing receive room assignments.
Room Selection: March 24–April 17
- March 24: Time slots released. Students who participated in a specialized room selection process outlined above or have signed a lease to live off campus will not receive a time slot.
- March 24 and April 2: Info sessions
- April 7, 8 and 9: Rising senior housing selection
- April 10, 11 and 14: Rising junior housing selection
- April 15, 16 and 17: Rising sophomore housing selection
Post Selection: April 7–May 7
- April 7: Waitlist form opens for individuals who did not select a housing assignment.*
- April 21: Upgrade and waitlist info session
- April 7–May 7: Upgrade forms open, providing an opportunity to switch a housing assignment, subject to availability.
Processing of upgrade and waitlist requests will begin in May, with the goal all requests being processed by Aug. 1. Students whose preferences cannot be accommodated will be contacted by Housing Services.
*Due to the nature of the room selection process, some students may not be able to choose one of their preferred rooms, and some may have no options left to choose in their time slot. This is a common occurrence that we anticipate annually. During the summer months, other spaces become available as enrollment begins to solidify. These spaces are utilized for those on the waitlist.
